Alvino Torres

Alvino Torres, 92, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away Friday, May 27, 2011 in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky, OH. He was born March 01, 1919, in Sarita, Texas, the son of Ascension and Marciana Castro Torres. On August 31, 1946 in McAllen, TX, he married Elisa C. Carrizalez and she preceded him in death on January 18, 2004. Alvino worked as a laborer for U. S. Gypsum for 28 years, retiring in March 1981. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Spanish Prayer Group, the Guadalupe Society and was a volunteer for the food give-a-way at the church. Alvino loved flowers and gardening. He was a member of the G.I. Forum of Port Clinton, OH. Alvino will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Survivors include: Daughter: Guadalupe Lupe Helmut Wuersig of Port Clinton, OH; 4 Grandchildren; 8 Great-Grandchildren; Brothers: Juan Imelda Torres, Vicente Minga Torres, Juan G. Donna Torres, Macario Celia Torres; Sister: Juaquina Salinas; many loving nieces and nephews. Alvino was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Hilario, Ascension & Pablo Torres, sisters: Esther Martinez and Nestora Alfredo Menchaca. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8PM, Monday, May 30, 2011 at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, OH, followed by prayers at the funeral home at 10:00AM, Tuesday, May 31st. A Funeral Mass will be conducted by Father John Missler at 10:30AM, Tuesday, May 31st, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton, OH. Interment will be in Christy Chapel Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Alvino may be given to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or to a charity of the donors choice.
