Alvin J. Turk

Alvin J. Turk, age 86, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2011. He was born May 20, 1924 in Ottawa Lake, MI to Charles and Elsie Koliber Turk. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary C. Turk 9/14/2010, and brothers Lawrence and Kenneth Turk. Alvin graduated in 1942 from Burnham High School in Sylvania. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving his country proudly during WWII. He enjoyed his career as a produce manager for A & P Food Stores, retiring after 36 years of service. He was a longtime parishioner of Christ the King Church in Toledo, OH. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteered for the Little Sisters of the Poor. Alvin is survived by his son, Edward Julia Turk of Pemberville, OH; daughter, Kathleen Bill Smelser, Toledo, OH; grandchildren, Richard Isabell Sheeler, David Turk, Kelley Turk, Will CarrieTezak and Chris Kim Tezak; 3 great grandchildren, and twin brother, Melvin Turk. Family and friends are invited to visit Friday, May 13, 2011 from 9:30 am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am at Blessed John XXIII Church, 24250 Dixie Highway, Perrysburg, OH 43551.
