Alvin G. Kruse, 85, of Rocky Ridge, Ohio, died early Wednesday morning, August 26, 2015, at the Genoa Retirement Village, Genoa, Ohio. Alvin was born February 20, 1930, in Clay Center, Ohio, to George and Margaret Kruse. On October 31, 1950, in Genoa he married Opal Mae Mahler and she survives. After 31 years, Alvin retired in 1995 as a welder for the State of Ohio Department of Transportation, working from the Northwood garage. His favorite hobbies included working with H.O. scale trains and watching old black and white war movies, He also liked to build home-made tractors and doodle bugs. Alvin was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church in Latcha. In addition to his wife of almost 55 years, Opal, Alvin is survived by his sons, Tom (Carol)( Kruse of Graytown, Roy W. Kruse of Rocky Ridge, daughters, Debbie J. (Dave) Ruttman of Rotonda West, Florida, and Barb (Denny) Geldin of Oak Harbor; ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren; step sister, Elsie Kruse of Rudolph, Ohio, and step brothers, Del Bush and Charles Bush, both of Perrysburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, sons, Alvin R. Kruse and Timmy D. Kruse, daughter, Kathy Duty, and brother, Dale Kruse. Visitation will be 2-4:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. Memorial contributions for Alvin may be directed to the family.
