Alvin F. Hill, Sr.

Hill, Sr. Alvin F. Alvin F. Hill, Sr., age 84 of Toledo, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Lake Park Comfort Care in Sylvania, OH. Al was born in Lucas County on March 12, 1925 to David and Margaret Hill. He was a butcher at the former Schmidts Meatpacking Co. then retired from the Toledo Blade in 1991 after 25 years as a paper handler. Al was a kind hearted, generous man who always had a dollar for a childs piggy bank. He excelled in many sports including fast-pitch softball playing for the Toledo Playboys, a collection of all-star athletes who traveled the country playing professional baseball teams and other all-star teams. Al was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Miracola Hill; grandson, Anthony Thomas Hill; brothers, John, Jack and Michael Hill; and sisters, Mary Jaegle and Sue Jaegle. He is survived by his sons, Al Cindy Hill, Jr., and Thomas Brenda Hill; daughters, Toni and Mary Hill; grandchildren, Aubri, Nicholas, and Joseph Hill; and brothers, David, James, and Theodore Hill. Visitation will be held on Friday today from 3-8:00pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00am.
