Alvena Kohl

Alvena I. Kohl, 91, of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Otterbein of Perrysburg. She was born on June 7, 1920 in Henry County, Ohio to William and Mary (Bohn) Grau. Alvena graduated from Holgate High School in 1939. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Perrysburg since 1957. Alvena was an avid bridge player and she enjoyed reading and traveling. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. Alvena is survived by her loving children, Thomas (Julie) Kohl of Hillsboro, Oregon, Jack Kohl of Toledo, Ohio and Mary Dukes of Perrysburg, Ohio; grandchildren, Zachary Kohl and Libby Dukes; step-granddaughters, Jenny (Mark) Piscitelli and Katy (Jeremy) Reedal and many loving nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter, Meghan Kohl, sisters; Mildred, Laura and twin sister Alvera and brother, Elmer. Friends and family will be received from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E.S. Boundary St. Perrysburg, Ohio (419-874-3133) where funeral services will be held following the visitation at 2:00 p.m. with Chaplain Chris Roper officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions may be made in Alvena’s name to a charity of the donor’s choice.
