Alma Marie Rice

Alma M. Rice, 81, of Rocky Ridge, died Wednesday evening, September 6, 2017, at Mercy-St. Charles Hospital in Oregon. Alma was born August 4, 1936, in Port Clinton, Ohio, to George and Lina (Schmardebeck) Hineline. On June 12, 1957, in Port Clinton, she married Frederick Rice and he preceded her in death March 13, 2011. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Oak Harbor, where she served as a former secretary of the Womens Guild. She was also a member of the O.E.S., Port Clinton and Tiffin Chapters. For several years Alma served as the street commissioner for the Village of Rocky Ridge. One of her enjoyments was watching the trains as they passed her home. Her family survives her: daughter, Maxine M. Wagner (Gary L. Fritz) of Rocky Ridge, son, Fred E. Rice (Rohnda) of Martin; grandchildren, Tiffany, Heather, Jacob, Shelby, Tatum, Fred, Justin, Chelsea and Charlee; and nine great grandchildren. Alma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sons, Myron Lynn and Charles Edward Rice. A memorial service for Alma will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 16, 2017, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 165 Toussaint St., Oak Harbor, OH 43449. A luncheon and time of fellowship will follow the service. Burial will take place in Limestone Cemetery, Graytown, at a later date. The family has suggested memorials to the church or any chapter of the Order of Eastern Stars.
