Alma Lucille Gunter, age 91, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2017 at Ebeid Hospice Residence after a brief illness. She was born January 12, 1926 in St. Louis, MI to George and Goldie Gault. She attended Riggs School of Beauty Culture in Adrian, MI. Alma and her husband, Stanley, owned and operated PG Metal Finishing as well as worked a dairy and hog farm. After retirement, the two started a second career of making toys and selling them at craft and art shows. During the years of working the farm, she canned vegetables that she grew in her enormous garden. She was a outstanding cook and could make and decorate some of the most wonderful cakes anyone could imagine. Often people would offer to buy her cakes because of how amazing they were. She was very active with her childrens activities, especially as their 4-H advisor. Alma and Stanley often went to Indiana to enjoy their relaxing retreat at their camper. While raising 5 children, she frequently opened her home to the neighbor children and often allowed them to live with them if they needed a place. As a grandmother, she took a strong role in raising her grandchildren, whom she loved and adored immensely. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Stanley; son, James; grandsons, Randy and Donny; great grandson, Mikey and great granddaughter, Alexis. She is survived by her daughters, Joy Sharp, Sandy Vanderhorst, LouAnn Smith, Julie Schroeder; 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Friends may visit the family on Saturday, November 11 from 12:30-2:30 PM at Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd) where a memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday.
