Alma Guba

Alma M. Guba, 87, of Sandusky, OH and formerly Port Clinton, OH died Friday, March 23, 2012 at Community at Parkvue, Sandusky, OH. She was born on March 9, 1925 in Port Clinton, OH to David and Maud Whitacre Gerner. On July 7, 1942 in Marblehead, OH she married Peter Guba, and he preceded her in death in 1992. Alma worked as a homemaker and with her husband in the camp registration department at East Harbor State Park from 1973-1991. They also wintered together in West Palm Beach, FL for 6 years together. She was a member and past president of the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #7572 in Marblehead for over 40 years, member of the Ottawa County Democratic Party, and the Ottawa County Riverview Ladies Auxiliary. Alma was a 30 year cancer survivor and was fluent in sign language and helped teach her grandchildren how to sign. Alma is survived by her son: Robert Elaine Guba of Flagler Beach, FL, daughters: Suzanne Lester Bowser of Huron, OH and Sandy Guba of Sandusky, OH, daughter-in-law: Sandy Craig Braithwaite of Olmstead Falls, OH, 6 grandchildren: Kelly Bill Antel, Jeffrey Tracy Bowser, Dana Romeo, Robert Ruth Guba, Jr., Michelle Dave Morin, and Sarah Lee Gabriel, 9 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and sister: Luella Terp of Sandusky, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters: Julie Krofft, Elaine Byerly, and infant sister: Amelia Gerner, and brother: William Gerner. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, OH with a V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #7572 service held at ____. Funeral services will be conducted by Chaplain Melvin Sayler at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at the funeral home with interment to follow in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH.
