Allison A. Burrows, 63, of Monclova, OH passed away Friday, February 23, 2018, at Otterbein supported by her friends. She was born on December 27, 1954, in Birmingham, Michigan to Ray H. Burrows and Bettie (McNabb) Burrows. She moved to Perrysburg, Ohio in Junior High and graduated from Perrysburg High School. She later received a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing from The University of Toledo. She volunteered at the Writing Center in Toledo and wrote many creative, short stories under her pen name, Andrea McNabb, under the Left-Handed Press. Allison will always be remembered for her love of music, rock, and Motown. She also loved animals, especially dogs; she had a generous spirit, brilliant mind, and kind heart. She was also an ardent Detroit Tigers fan. Since her illness in 2002 resulting in her being bed bound, Allison showed dignity and grace, never losing her spirited sense of humor, warmth, or charm. She is survived by her sisters, Janet (Stephen) Schwind, Anne (Murali) Makam, and Karen Burrows; brother, David Burrows; nieces and nephews, Todd Schwind, Amy Schwind, Onalee Makam, and Ravi Makam; great-nephews, Jonathan Schwind and Tyler Schwind; and, close friend, Colette (Stephen Phillips) Córdova. She was preceded in death by her parents; and, brother, Gerald Burrows. Allison’s life will be celebrated at a memorial service beginning at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 9, 2018, at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, Ohio 43537. Private burial to follow in Perrysburg at Fort Meigs Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Civil Liberties Union or the Ability Center of Greater Toledo.
