Allen J. Wendt, 68, of Perrysburg, Ohio and Naples, Florida died Friday, September 21, 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born on August 24, 1950 in East Cleveland, Ohio to Charles H. and Joan M. (Brown) Wendt. Allen married Jane R. Reynolds on December 22, 1973. They spent 44 happy years together. He was Jane’s partner and best friend. Together they raised their son, Joe. Allen was an amazing father, who put his family first. When his grandsons were born he retired to babysit them. Allen went to all of their sports games, especially their baseball games. Allen worked as a Special Education Teacher for 32 years spending 22 years in Toledo Public Schools. He was a dedicated teacher who helped everyone he could. He was often described as a gentle soul and not your average guy. Allen was a very active man. He enjoyed playing pickle ball and was an avid fisherman. Many times his friends could find him either walking or running the beaches in Naples. Allen will be missed by all who knew him. Allen is preceded in death by his parents. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Jane Wendt; son, Joe Wendt; grandsons, Collin Wendt and Gavin Wendt; brother, Chuck (Andrea); sister, Mary (and her late husband, Al Moll); nephews, Nathan Wendt and Kenny Wendt. Friends will be received at Witzler Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary St., Perrysburg, Ohio (419-874-3133) on Saturday, October 6, 2018 from 2:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M.
