Allan W. Weirich, 77, of Oak Harbor, OH, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton. He was born on September 16, 1944, in Port Clinton, OH, to Orval and Esther (Blausey) Weirich. Allan was a graduate of Oak Harbor High School and he went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. On September 19, 1999, in Las Vegas, NV, he married Marylou (Crone) Weirich, who preceded him in death in 2019.
Allan was a lifelong surveyor, mastering his craft in the industry after more than 50 years of work. He worked in various locations over his life, from the Ottawa County Civil Engineer’s office to partnering with B.E.C. Associates. He loved the outdoors, especially golfing and hunting. He was part of Oak Harbor’s Thursday night golf league, where you would catch him berating his golf ball for not going in the right direction. When he wasn’t golfing, he would go on hunting trips with his friends to the west, especially to Arkansas during duck and deer season. He was a big Ohio sports enthusiast as a Browns backer and an avid Indians and Buckeye fan. He enjoyed playing cards, especially poker and Euchre, and would easily get caught up in a game and play until 2am. If he had a “blue yummy” with him, and his friends and family, he was content.
Allan is survived by his children, Daniel (Jen) Weirich and Duane Weirich; step-children, Jasen Palmer, Adam Palmer, Elizabeth (Will) Wittenberg, and Andrew (Becky) Palmer; daughter-in-law; Patti Weirich; grandchildren; Nicalos Weirich, Grant (Alexandra) Weirich, Grace Weirich, Ross Weirich, Heather (Justin) Gilbert, and Joshua (Kristen) Weirich; step-grandchildren; Danielle Thoren, Amanda Thoren, Logan Palmer, Joseph Palmer, Liam Wittenberg, Jack Wittenberg, Nina Palmer, Evan Palmer, Jordan Williams, and Casey Williams; great-grandchildren, Tenley Gilbert, Laney Gilbert, and Theodore Weirich; step-great-grandsons, Dominic Johnson and Austin Johnson; brother, Don Weirich; and sister, Carol Sue Jensen. He is preceded by his parents, his loving wife, Marylou Weirich; his son, David Weirich; and his brothers, Robert Weirich and Kenneth Weirich.
