Alicia E Cadalso

February 7, 1934 — March 5, 2022

Alicia E. Cadalso, 88, of Perrysburg, passed away at home on Saturday, March 5, 2022. She was born in Havana, Cuba on February 7, 1934, to Ciro and Bertha (Gallardo) Cadalso. Alicia came to the United States at the age of 22 after marrying, then returned to Cuba to give birth to her first child, only to flee the country during the Communist Revolution shortly thereafter. She initially moved several times before settling in Toledo, Ohio where she raised her family. She was a loving mother, dedicated grandmother and great-grandmother. She worked in a variety of positions, all in service to the needy and elderly. She found fulfillment caring for others and often worked as a private duty caregiver.

Alicia was a gifted artist who enjoyed painting and jewelry making; even in her later years, while her eyesight was failing, she continued to create beautiful paintings. She loved music and dancing. A self-proclaimed missionary for peace, her dream was to see world peace and love among all people. She was a free spirit and was loved by nearly everyone she met.

Alicia is survived by her six children, Diego (Rhonda) Perez, Alicia (Steve) Searle, Loretta (Don) Rominski, Maria E. (Paul Ceely) Perez, Magdalena (Frank) Lott, M. Teresa (Néstor Gabrielloni) Perez; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several extended family members and many friends whom she loved like family, especially her “Sister of the Heart” Asia Wajskol.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Bertha (Santalla) Macia, and grandson Wyatt Searle.

The family will hold a celebration of Alicia’s life this summer. Memorial donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (memorial donation forms available on-line). Arrangements were entrusted to Walker Funeral Home, Toledo (419-841-2422). Online condolences to the family may be made at walkerfuneralhomes.com.
