Alice Louise Syperski

Alice Louise Syperski, age 78, passed away on November 6, 2021, in Sylvania. She was born April 12, 1943, in Lakewood to the late Harry and Margaret (Dibling) Thompson. Alice was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy, St. Vincent School of Nursing and Mary Manse College in Toledo. She served as a registered nurse for 35 years, beginning at The Ohio State University in Columbus. Alice also worked at Baptist Hospital in Miami, Florida, Visiting Nurse Service and St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sylvania where she served on the Health Cabinet and volunteered at Flower Hospital as a Eucharistic Minister. A highlight of Alice’s life was a pilgrimage with her husband Tom, to Medjugorje, Yugoslavia in 1988. She is survived by her sister, Ann (William) Achinger; sisters in law, Jane (Tim) Gore, Judy (Tom) Furry and Donna Thompson; and many nieces and nephews. Alice was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, and brother, William Thompson. Friends and family are invited to visit from 3-7 p.m., Wednesday, November 10, 2021 in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) concluded by scripture services at 6:45 p.m. There will be additional visitation on Thursday, November 11, 2021, in the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of prayers at 9:30 a.m., followed by procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5373 Main St., Sylvania, for funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer Association of Northwest Ohio, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, or St Joseph’s Church in Sylvania.
