Alice M. Sabin

Alice M. Sabin, 96, of Oak Harbor died Saturday, January 15, 2011 at her residence. She was born on April 29, 1914 in Salem Township, OH to William J. and Gertie J. Gnepper Mylander. She graduated from Salem Oak Harbor High School in 1932 and earned a 2 year teacher certificate from Bowling Green State University in 1934. On June 14, 1936 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor she married Wilbur Sabin, and he preceded her in death on October 18, 1972. Alice was a retired teacher who worked for Humphrey School, a one room school house, for 2 years, Rocky Ridge Elementary for 4 years, and Graytown Elementary for 8 years, and a substitute teacher for 6 years. She was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor and a member of the Miriam Circle. Alice was also a member of the Ottawa County Retired Teachers Association and a charter member of the Town Country Garden Club. Alice is survived by her son: Robert Sabin of Oak Harbor. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister: Gladys Milbrodt. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 24, 2011, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor, with visitation one hour prior from 10-11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Contributions in memory of Alice may be given to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor.
