Alice Mendoza

Alicia (Alice) F. Mendoza, age 82, of Toledo, OH, passed away on January 24, 2024, peacefully in her home. She spent the remaining days of her life surrounded by those she loved. She was born July 29, 1941, in San Antonio, TX to Fidel and Anastacia (Villanueva) Flores. Alice married the love of her life, Gilbert Mendoza, and they celebrated 50 years together before his passing in 2013.

Alice loved to spend her time at the casino, bingo hall, and local internet cafes. If she wasn’t at any of those places, you would find her with friends and family. She loved to spend time with “her mijo and mija”, Jace and Jemma. Alice loved to watch football and cheer for the Alabama Crimson Tide—a tradition she inherited from her son, “June”. Her quick wit and sense of humor will be greatly missed.

Alice leaves behind her granddaughter, Jessica (Josh) Radtkin; and great-grandchildren, Jace and Jemma Radtkin. She also leaves behind a daughter-in-law and dear friend, Delia Perales, as well as many nieces and nephews. Family meant everything to her and one of her most memorable moments was when she was reunited with her niece, Teresa McClelland. Her nieces and nephews would not hesitate to drop what they were doing to make sure “Aunt Alice” was always taken care of.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gilbert; son, Henry Perales Jr and brothers, Dave Perales, Henry Perales Sr., Reynaldo Perales, Ruben Perales, and Rudy Flores.

A special thanks to Lori Martinez, Brenda Haddad, and Alia for always coming to her aid and loving her so beautifully. Lori, thanks to your kind donation of your kidney, Alice was able to enjoy so many more years of life. For that, we are all eternally grateful.

It was Alice’s wish to be buried privately at Highland Memory Gardens. She wanted everyone to celebrate her life and honor her with happiness. In place of flowers please consider donations to her favorite charity, St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
