Alice M. Hansen

Alice M. Hansen, 91, of Curtice, died early in the morning of Sunday, March 26, 2017, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. She was born August 16, 1925, in Rocky Ridge, Ohio, to Ferdinand and Minnie (Butzin) Rife. On July 2, 1948, in Rocky Ridge she married Martin C. Hansen, who preceded her in death on March 2, 2000. Alice was known to all she met as a lady with a contagious laugh. It was loud and genuine, and she was never afraid to share it. Alice was an avid reader and enjoyed all types of literature. She was a whiz in the kitchen and loved to cook and bake. She found joy in sharing her gift with others and was famous for her rice pudding. Alice was also a lover of card games and could hold her own against any opponent in a game of Euchre. She was active in her church and community, volunteering at ProMedica Bay Park Hospital. Alice was a woman of great faith, in both good times and difficult times. Alice’s greatest love was her family. She was a loving wife and mother, who filled her home with encouragement, humor, and insight. She was a caring grandmother and great-grandmother, who was always ready to greet her grandchildren with a big hug and kiss, a catchy little song, and loads of love. She is survived by her children, John M. (Sue) Hansen of Curtice, Robert L. (Julie) Hansen of Northwood and son-in-law, Greg Bronner of Toledo; grandchildren, Sarah (Steve) Goff, Andy (Candace) Hatmaker, Christy Allan, Josh (Lindsey) Hansen and Kelsey Hansen; great grandchildren, Vada Hansen, Evey Hansen, HeyLea Allan, Riley Goff and Drew Hatmaker. She is also survived by her brother, Gerry Rife. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Sheila A. Bronner and siblings, Grace Barnes, Irene Baumert and Bill Rife. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 30, 2017, at St. John Lutheran Church, Williston, with interment to follow in Allen Township Cemetery.
