Alice P. Cytlak, age 90, of Toledo, Ohio passed away Sunday, February 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving family in her home. She was born August 27, 1934, in Norwich, CT to the late Joseph Shibenski and Sophie Piekarski. She attended and graduated from Norwich Academy, in Norwich CT. She went on to serve in the United States Navy during the Korean War from August 26, 1953, until July 7, 1955, when she was honorably discharged. Alice married the love of her life and soulmate of fifty-nine years, Ronald J. Cytlak.
She was a member of the Conn-Weisenberger Post for thirty-five years and the American Legion. She enjoyed golf and was a member of the Myakka Pines Golf Club for ten years. Alice and Ronald lived in Florida for twenty years following retirement.
She demonstrated her love for her family by crocheting baby blankets and animals for all the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Alice also enjoyed the occasional trip to Hollywood Casino, completing puzzle books and fishing on her husband’s boat. She was generous and always willing to give to those in need - she was the rock of the family.
Lobster, crab and shrimp were amongst her favorite foods and Alice had to have her daily sweet treats. Dessert was her favorite part of the meal!
She is survived by her children, Sandra Witko, Ed (Peggy) Cytlak, Ron “Rocko” (Claire) Cytlak; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and her sister Connie Deslandes. She was also preceded in death by her husband Ronald on November 2, 2014; son, Kenneth; and sisters, Lillian Terranova and Frances Grillo.
Family and friends are invited to visit the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, Ohio, from 12 pm to 1 pm on Thursday, February 20, 2025, until the time of funeral services at 1 pm. Military rites conducted by the United States Navy will follow. Alice will be privately laid to rest next to her beloved husband at Resurrection Cemetery.
