“To God we belong, and to God we shall return” Alia O. (Alice) Boraby, 92, of Toledo, Ohio; returned to God peacefully on March 27, 2016. Alia was born in Omar, West Virginia, to Lebanese immigrants. Her parents returned to Lebanon when Alia was a young girl. Later on in the village of her parents, Sultan Yacoub, Lebanon; she met her future husband Kassim. Together they immigrated to the USA in 1947, with nothing but their clothes, a few dollars, determination and devotion, they raised six children, taught them dignity, honesty, faith and showered them with support and love. Alia was devoted to family, she would start in the early hours cooking, always having food available for family members to take home. Her love and devotion to her late husband and children was the foundation of her life. Her health began to deteriorate shortly after her husband’s passing last May. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years Kassim; her loving daughter Sarah, her parents and two sisters. Surviving Alia are her children, Mike, Jeanette, Adeb (Hamidi), Nadia and Naeem (Shelly). She leaves to cherish her memory 16 grand children and 15 great grand children also surviving her are brothers (Hussein and Mohammed), sisters (Ishey and Adel) as well as many family members in Lebanon and Brazil. Services will be held at the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo, on March 28, 2016, at 12:30 with burial to follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. The family requests donations in her memory to be made to the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo, 25877 Scheider Rd., Perrysubrg, Ohio, 43551.
