Alexander Andrews

Alexander Joseph Andrews, 96, of Port Clinton, OH died on November 21, 2009 at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton. He was born on November 24, 1912 to Joseph and Mary Bic Andrews in Port Clinton, Ohio. On November 19, 1938 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marblehead, OH he married Mary Gresh and she preceded him in death on December 12, 1986. Alexander was retired from Ford Motor Company in Sandusky, Ohio, where he worked as a machine repairman for over 20 years. He was a life-long member of Immaculate Conception Church, Port Clinton, and enjoyed building and flying planes. Alexander is survived by his three children, Douglas Andrews Bonnie, Henrietta Carroll, and Gerald Andrews Sue; four grandchildren, Diane Stroh Mark, Derek Carroll, James Carroll, and Paula Greider Jamie; five great-grandchildren, Jay, Lauren and Jordan Greider and Alexander and Katherine Stroh. Also survived and loved by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by father, mother, wife, step-mother Mary Furgal Andrews, brother Henry Andrews and sister Hedwig Hattie Andrews Hoffman. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton, beginning with prayers offered at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 24, 2009 from 2-8 p.m., with family present from 2-4 6-8 p.m., at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton. Memorial contributions may be given to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton.
