Albert Rhodes

Albert “Boots” Rhodes, age 75, of Sylvania, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Boots was born in Curtice, Ohio on March 2, 1938 to Russel and Mary (Vargyas). He married Shirley Sniegowski on September 7, 1957. Albert worked at SME Cement Company, Sylvania, Ohio and Johns-Manville, Waterville, Ohio. But, his true passion was construction, specializing in home remodeling. Boots passed his skills on to his son and grandsons. Boots loved spending time hunting, watching both NASCAR and Indy racing and playing cards. But, his favorite thing was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was often found at sporting events, wearing the name and number of whichever grandchild he was watching. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; his children, Joseph (Sharon) Rhodes, Sr., Julia (Kevin) Joseph, Lynn (Jeffrey) Truckor and Lori (Douglas) Nowak; his grandchildren, Joseph Jr., Kelli (Jeremy), Joshua (Monica), Zachary, Chelsea, Alexander, Abigail, Jennifer and Jacob; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Evan, Dylan, Wyatt and Paesyn; and siblings, Russel (Ann) Rhodes, Marie Lord, Jeanne (Mack) Moon, and Rosie Piasecki. Boots was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Ryan Truckor. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, July 28, 2013 from 2:00-9:00pm in Neville Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, 7438 Airport Highway in Holland, Ohio (419-865-8879). Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 29, 2013 at 11:00am at the funeral home. The burial will be private.
