Albert A Pleiss

Albert A. Pleiss of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on January 3, 2008 after battling Cancer for several years. Al was born in Vancouver, Washington on June 21, 1930 to Anthony and Florence Meyers Pleiss. Al lived in both Washington and Oregon for several years. He attended both high school and college in Portland, Oregon. In 1955, Al joined The Owens Illinois Glass Company. He worked in Portland for seven years and was then transferred to several Owens Illinois locations setting up computer equipment and installations. He ended up at the Corporate Data Center in Toledo as Manager of Hardware, Software and Communications. Al took early retirement from Owens Illinois in 1985 and went to work for Schindler Elevator Corp. as Director of Information Systems where he remained until Schindler moved its headquarters to New Jersey at which time he retired for the second time in 1990. After retirement, Al worked as a computer consultant and also volunteered as a consultant for SCORE Service Corps Of Retired Executives for ten years and Swan Creek Retirement Village as a computer consultant for five years. Al was an Army Veteran during the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion Post 320 in Maumee and St. Paul
