Albert Al J. Mr. Ondrus, Sr.

Albert J. 'Al' Ondrus Sr., age 86 of Oregon died Thursday, June 23, 2011 at the residence he built and in the company of his loving family. Al was born in Toledo, Ohio on November 5, 1924 to Frank and Rose (Halicek) Ondrus. He with his siblings, owned and operated as 2nd generation of the Ondrus Hardware, continued now by the 3rd generation with his retirement in 1987. He was a loving husband of 60 years, father and grandfather who enjoyed traveling to Europe, and the 50 continental United States. He was a gifted carpenter and an amazing overall handyman. Al is preceded in death by his parents, sons, Alan and David; brothers, Walt, Bill and Fritz Ondrus; sisters, Mary Torsok and Helen Lintner. Surviving are his loving wife, Donna (McClintock) Ondrus ; children, Linda (Bill) Simon, Kim Baer, Gary (Kendra) Ondrus, Amy (Ron) Duschl and Albert 'Jamie' (Kathy) Ondrus Jr. and 15 grandchildren. Visitation at the Hoeflinger-Bolander funeral home will be held from 2:00 - 9:00 pm Sunday, June 26, 2011. Funeral services on Monday, June 27, 2011 will begin with prayers at the funeral home at 9:15 am followed by his Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 am at St. Ignatius Catholic Church.
