Albert "Al" Livecchi, 91, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, surrounded by his family. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, service, and laughter that will live on through the many people whose lives he touched.
Born on April 29, 1935, in Toledo, Ohio, Al was the son of Leonard Livecchi, who emigrated from Palermo, Sicily, and Mary Gallo. Raised in a hardworking Italian-American family, he learned the values of hard work, perseverance, and service that would define his character.
He graduated from Macomber High School in 1953, attended the University of Toledo, and proudly served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959 while stationed in Okinawa, Japan.
Al spent most of his professional life in the insurance business. After beginning his career with John Hancock, he became an independent agent and eventually established his own agency. He built his business through integrity, personal relationships, and a genuine commitment to the people he served. He remained active in the profession until retiring at age 65.
Retirement gave Al the opportunity to devote even more of his time to serving others. For more than 25 years, he volunteered at Toledo Hospital, where he became a familiar face to patients, visitors, and staff alike. His dedication and countless hours of service earned him the President's Volunteer Service Award during the administration of President Barack Obama.
Faith and family defined Al's life. A devoted member of St. Pius X Parish, he and Marilyn raised their family in the parish community and were committed supporters of Catholic education. All of their children attended St. Pius X School, with their sons continuing on to St. Francis de Sales High School and their daughter, Nicole, attending Notre Dame Academy.
Al and Marilyn shared more than 65 years of marriage, creating a life together filled with faith, family, and countless memories. Together they raised seven children and built a home centered on love, education, and hard work. Al took great pride in helping all of his children earn college degrees and found great joy in watching his family continue to grow through the years.
Family vacations often meant annual trips to Cedar Point, and summers frequently included trips to Detroit Tigers games. Those memories, along with countless family gatherings, holidays, and celebrations, became some of the greatest joys of his life. Whether he was telling a story, teasing a grandchild, or dealing a hand of Euchre, Al had a knack for making people feel welcome and making them laugh.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn Ann Livecchi; his children, James (Kristen) Livecchi, Steven (Teresa) Livecchi, Richard (Jodi) Livecchi, Ronald (Betsy) Livecchi, Daniel (Kelly) Livecchi, and Nicole (Matthew) McBrier. He was preceded in death by his son, Gary (Elizabeth) Livecchi; his sister, Mary Ann Kinor; and his brother, Leonard Livecchi. He also leaves behind 23 cherished grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him tremendous pride and joy.
Al will be remembered for his kindness, his humor, and the quiet way he made everyone around him feel like they mattered. The faith he practiced, the family he loved, and the countless hours he gave to others tell the story of a life well and fully lived.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, Ohio 43623. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 12, at St. Pius X Church, 2950 Ilger Avenue, Toledo, Ohio 43606. A reception will follow the Mass.
Al will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
