Albert A. Solis, Sr.

Albert A. Solis, Sr., 90, of Port Clinton, Ohio passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Ottawa County Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor, Ohio. He was born on March 3, 1932 in San Isidro, Chihuahua, Mexico, a son of the late Medaro and Rafaela (Almuina) Solis. On August 31, 1955 he married Bertha Acosta and she preceded him in death on December 13, 2004.

Albert worked as a machinist at Uniroyal from 1965 until his retirement in 1994. He was also self-employed working his 4 businesses. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton, as well as a member of the Eagles Lodge Aerie 2295, Port Clinton. He was Vice President of the Mexican-American Business Association of Northwest Ohio, and was also a former detective in Mexico’s version of the USA CIA.

He was an avid gardener, and especially enjoyed planting tomatoes and peppers. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his son, Alex A. (Julien) Solis; daughters, Maria E. Blessing and Elizabeth Solis, all of Port Clinton; grandchildren, Christopher C. Blessing, Shane Michael Blessing, Kassandra E. Harder, Kayla A. Solis-Bickley, Shantel K. Solis, Kortney M. Solis, Kyron M. Glorioso; great-grandchildren, Layla I. Noble, Amara M. Cooms, Elijah Cooms, Waylen V. Bickley, Skylar A. Blessing; five siblings, as well as nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; son, Albert A. Solis, Jr.; grandson, Jonathon B. Blessing; and four siblings.

Visitation will be held at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington Street, Port Clinton, Ohio on Monday, May 9, 2022 from 2-6 pm. Cremation will then take place and he will be buried at a later date at LaCarpe Cemetery, Lacarne, Ohio.
