Alan Schloz

Alan R. Schloz, 84, a native and lifelong resident of Toledo, died April 6, 2012 at his home. He was born January 24, 1928 to the late Arthur and Gladys Royce Schloz. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Janice McFarland Schloz. Alan attended Old Orchard Elementary and graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1946. He served in the U.S. Army then put his passion for the automobile industry to work in car sales. He was employed for more than 45 years with the White Family of dealerships. Following retirement, he drove school bus for Washington Local for 10 years. Alan was a member of VFW Post 606 in Toledo. He loved feeding and watching birds, particularly the hummingbird. He also enjoyed vacationing at his cottage at Lake Sesekinika in Northern Ontario, Canada. Alan will be remembered for his fun-loving personality and for his keen interpersonal skills. He found his greatest enjoyment in spending time with his family and friends. Surviving are his children, Stephen Anne Schloz, Sandra Momsen-Schloz, Theodore Lynn Schloz and Timothy Monica Schloz; seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Visitation is Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue west of Corey Rd. where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 12, 2012. Entombment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park with military rites by the Lucas County Burial Corps. Memorials are suggested to the Toledo Area Humane Society or Christian Fellowship of Toledo.
