Ahmad Mourad

Jan 2, 1933 — Oct 9, 2026

We would like to announce the passing of our grandfather Ahmad Mourad. Our Gido was one of a kind. Alongside his beloved wife, Elham, he showed us the meaning of hard work, dedication, and building a life you could be proud of.

His family was his greatest accomplishment. Gido raised five strong, independent, and accomplished children, Sena (Bruce) Friedman, Jehad (Leah) Mourad, Hanasa Mourad, Majida Mourad, Moubine (Laura) Mourad and his grandchildren, Majeed (Young-Mi), Charine (Eric), Moubine, Musa, Noelle and great-grandchildren, Rumi, Raja, Cooper, Cecilia were among his greatest joys.

His Faith was equally important, and something he lived by as it guided him throughout his life. His dedication to Islam served as the foundation of who he was, and he carried the lessons of God through out his life.

Gido was a man of strong opinions and even stronger willpower. He took pride in being stubborn, and he was never shy about wanting things done his way. Those who knew him best understood the love that was behind it all. Gido had high expectations of those around him, and pushed us to be the best version of ourselves because he knew what we were capable of. He always wanted more for all of us.

From growing up playing soccer in Brazil, to meeting the love of his life in Lebanon, Gido always had a story to tell, a joke to share, and a lesson tucked somewhere in between. He believed in building a great life for his family and, when he came to America, he did just that. The life he built, along with the family and legacy he leaves behind, is something we are deeply proud of.

His other great love, of course, was shopping. Gido never could pass up a good sale. He knew every store, every deal, and every salesperson by name. Never leaving empty handed, his happiness in those moments is one of the little things we will laugh about and miss most.

We'll remember countless family gatherings, the daily cigars in the garage, and Friday night cards with his friends. We'll remember the first time he let us grandkids play cards with him - once we were good enough to not ruin his game - and we'll pass along stories about what a card shark he was in his prime. How quickly these simple times together become the moments we cherish most.

Gido leaves behind a legacy far greater than what he built with his hands. He leaves behind a family who carries his strength, his determination, his humor, his stubbornness, his faith, and his love.

We will miss his stories, his laughter, his strong opinions, and simply having him there. We will miss all the little things that made him who he was. But most of all, we will carry him with us, in our traditions, in our family, in our faith, and in everything we continue to build as we honor those who came before us.

Thank you for honoring his legacy with us.
