Ahmad U Khan

Ahmad Ullah Khan, 78, of Toledo, Ohio passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Born in northern India on January 15, 1938 to Abdul Rehman and Shah Jehan Khan, he attended the prestigious Aligarh Muslim University in India before immigrating to the United States in 1960. An ever curious mind, Ahmad was fascinated by all things electronic, and continued his education at Adrian College, specializing in Electronics Engineering. Early on, he worked at Cousino Electric and taught classes at The Boys Club of Toledo. A proud Toledoan for his entire adult life, Ahmad spent the majority of his career at Jeep and was recognized for his 30 plus years of outstanding service by DaimlerChrysler and Jeep Unit UAW Local 12. Affectionately known as “Goodie” by his family, Ahmad was a very generous, caring, and gentle man. His greatest love was for his family, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his many nieces and nephews. He was a loving and devoted son, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, and loyal friend. Ahmad was always out and about looking in on friends and checking up on family. He spent a lot of his free time as a child reading books and as an adult loved crossword puzzles and reading the Toledo Blade front-to-back every day. His passion for electronics continued well into retirement and he was always tinkering on related projects in his spare time. He enjoyed gently teasing his friends and family but also possessed a deep compassion for those around him. He could always be counted on to selflessly lend a hand. Ahmad was beloved by his family and friends. Carrying on his memory with love are his sister, Meena (Abdul Hafeez) Khan; his brothers, Usman Khan, Nasr (the late Karen Butler Morley) Khan, Habib (Beverly) Khan, Amir (Shahida) Khan, Azmat (Shehnaz) Khan and Shaukat (Malka) Khan. Also carrying on his legacy are his 29 nieces & nephews and 33 great nieces & nephews, as well as many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Zohra (the late Samdani) Khan; and brother, Aman (the late Molly Andrews) Khan. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo, 25877 Scheider Road, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551. Burial to follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park, Toledo, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo, which Ahmad was a member of for over fifty years.
