Agnes Ann Pawlowic, 85, of Oak Harbor, OH passed away Monday, July 18, 2022 at Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton, OH. She was born on December 11, 1936 in Akron, OH to Wilfred “Bill” and Mary (McAuliffe) Coddington. On August 31, 1957 in Aurora, IL she married Joseph M. Pawlowic, and he survives. For over 64 years, it was “Ag and Joe”. Their marriage was a true partnership, as they did most things together as a team. Their motto was “Together we will do better.” They both enjoyed antiques and she enjoyed dragging Joe along to several states antiquing. Agnes worked as a switchboard operator for the former Copley Hospital in Aurora, IL for 22 years before retiring in 1999. She was known to “run the place” as the main switchboard operator and her famous line was always, “Just a minute”.
Agnes was known by many nicknames to those who knew her best, “Ag”, “Aggie”, “Myrtle”, “Eggie”, and “Spook”. She was also known as the “CEO” of her family. If she fixed her eyes on you, you were in trouble. Her son claims to be a “wooden spoon survivor.”. Her family, in all reality though, was the most important thing to her. She attended all of her kids’ and grandkids’ events and enjoyed all of her time spent with them. She always enjoyed visits from her siblings as well.
Agnes had an easy-going personality, and although she didn’t have a lot of close friends, those she did make friends with appreciated the friend she was to them. She had a giving heart. She didn’t want any credit for the things she did, she just enjoyed doing things for people. She enjoyed crocheting, making afghans, Christmas stockings, little Santas, Christmas trees and generously giving them away to others. She had a love for flowers and caring for them at her home. One of her other famous trademarks was using Post-It-Notes, which she loved. She used them for everything in keeping things organized for her and her family.
In addition to her loving husband, Joe, she is survived by her children Bridget (Tom) and Joe (Dawn); grandchildren Jason (Brittany), Brooke (Tyler), Anthony (Chelsie), Andrea (Jake), Mason, and Levi; great grandchildren Maverick, Jackson, Ariana, Dominic, Eva, and Ellie; and siblings, Tom, Rich, Mary, and Joatie. She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Kathy.
A Celebration of Life for Agnes will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Agnes may be given to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, a cause near and dear to her heart. Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Oak Harbor, OH is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com .
