Adinarayana Sastry Varanasi, age 93, died September 25, 2021, at the Toledo Hospital. He was born November 16, 1927, in India to the late Venkateswarlu and Mahalakshmi (Pokkunuri) Varanasi. He was also preceded in death in 2003 by his wife, Sri Lakshmi Yeddavali, whom he married in August of 1950, and several siblings. Mr. Varanasi earned his master’s degree in Chemical Technology and Engineering in 1948 from Andhra University and was a chemistry professor and department chair at the National College in Machilipatnam, India. He emigrated to the United States in 1987 and became a proud resident of Toledo. Mr. Varanasi was a tennis enthusiast and fan of Roger Federer. He also liked classic movies, especially watching AMC and Clark Gable and Cary Grant films. He enjoyed living with son and care giver, Srikanth. Mr. Varanasi was a religious man, devout in practicing the Hindu faith. Surviving are his beloved seven children, Usha, Udaya (Venkata Ramana Kowsika), Sasidar (Kalpana), Srikanth “S.K.”, Prabodh (Padmini), Chandra (Simi) and Kiranamai (Murthy Madhira); grandchildren, Jitu, Priya, Srivatsa, Sruthi (Sashank Musti), Saranya, Srirama, Sneha, Gautham and Vikram; and great grandchildren, Sourav and Sidharth. Public visitation will be Sunday, September 26, 2021, from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.), Toledo. The funeral ceremony will be private. Those wishing to contribute in Mr. Varanasi’s name are asked to consider the Autism Society of Northwest Ohio.
