ADELYN SYLVIA MANLEY Adelyn Manley, age 100, of Toledo and formerly of Holland, Ohio passed away on February 5, 2015 at the Wotring Home. Adelyn was born November 5, 1914 in Toledo to James & Maria (Hurrell) Shepler. She met and married Karl Manley in Jackson, Michigan on August 9, 1934 and he preceded her in death on August 12, 1991. A 1933 graduate of Waite H.S., Adelyn was a cook and later cafeteria manager for the Springfield School District for over 25 years retiring in 1970. She was a Charter member of Providence Lutheran Church, a life member of the Holland American Legion Post 646 ladies auxillary, past member of the Holland Village fire department auxillary and member of the Holland Spencer Historical Club. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving is her son, Gerald (Nancy) Manley; grandchildren, Karl (Vicki) Manley; Todd Manley; step-grandchildren, Charles (Sheila) North, Jr.; great grandchildren, Justin; Jessica; Levi; Samantha; Jake and Joseph; step great grandchildren, Eric & Jeffrey North. She was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Manley; brother, Franklin Shepler; sisters, Vivian Duncan; Corabelle Baxter & Virginia Eisinger; step grandson, Robert and daughter-in-law, Beverly Manley. Friends will be on Monday February 9, 2015 from 10 am to 12 pm at the Providence Lutheran Church, 8131 Airport Highway, Holland. Funeral services will begin at 12 noon at Providence Lutheran Church with burial to follow at 2 pm at Springfield Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Adelyn’s memory be sent to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the Providence Lutheran Church. The family wishes to thank the staff of Wotring Home, especially Deanna, Teresa, Cindy and Linda for their loving care and compassion shown to Adelyn during these past several years.
