RICHARDS Adaline Shumer Manley Adaline Shumer Manley Richards age 96, passed away on March 22, 2008, in her apartment at Astor House in the Spring Meadows Senior Community. She was born on March 26, 1911 to Howard and Mary Shumer in Swanton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Henry and Howard, her husbands, Don Manley and Fred Richards and her daughter, Donna Manley Stone. Adaline was a very active lady and an enthusiastic grandmother. She was a power walker and while she and her husband Fred wintered in Florida, she took part in the grand opening of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. She walked the 4-mile across the bridge. She was 76 at the time. She was a bookkeeper at Manley Auto Service and Resthaven Manor and a bus driver for Springfield Schools. She once broke her arm while playing football with the kids between her bus routes. Adaline was an avid Democrat and voted in every election including this past primary. She was also active in the Eastern Stars and was Mother Advisor for Rainbow girls for two years. Her talents included knitting, sewing, cooking and playing cards. All of her skills were self-taught. But her proudest achievement was her family and she always had time for a visit, a phone call, a story or a good laugh. Adaline is survived by her son-in-law, Jack Stone and his wife Barbara, step-daughter Valerie Don Arganbright, grandchildren, Roxanne Stone-Warr Charlie, Lori Charlie Eckel, Jody Jeff MacQueen, John Jodie Stone, Noah Ericka Stone, Jenny Ken Harris, Matt Seethaler, Dan Ruth Seethaler and Jon Sally Seethaler. Also surviving are her great-grandchildren, Arin, Zach and Spencer MacQueen, Anisa, Julianne, Charlie Heather Warr and Evie Jim Warr-Cummings, Caitlin, Sally, Joe, Kiley and Noah Stone, Crystal Floyd, Amanda and Patrick Fuller, Matt, Sarah, Cole, Nina, Clark and Annie Seethaler and several great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and her dear friend, Barney Stickles. The family will receive visitors at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee on Wednesday, April 2 at 10:00 A.M. There will be Eastern Star Service at 11:30 and the funeral service conducted by Larry Manley at Noon. Burial will be at Springfield Township Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff at Astor House, especially Tracy, Evelyn and Tricia for all the loving care given to Adaline during her last few months. You were all special angels to her. Also thanks to Barb Nye and Terry from Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any contributions to go to the Spring Meadows Resident Activity Fund.
