William Patterson

William S. Patterson, age 89, of Perrysburg, died peacefully on April 21, 2022. He was born October 2, 1932 in Oglesby, IL to the late Sampson and Agnes (Taveirne) Patterson. Bill served in the United States Air Force and worked as an electrical engineer with several companies including McDonnell Douglas, Owens-Illinois and Avca. Always adventurous, he loved bicycling and participating in an annual ride across the State of Iowa, even into his late 60’s. He also enjoyed traveling and made several mission trips to an orphanage in Arkhangelsk, Russia, where he learned the language. Bill had a curious mind and found history and cultures intriguing. He was an avid reader, especially of early American history and crime novels. He enjoyed food and trying all types in his travels. Bill enjoyed spending time with his family, particularly attending the events of his grandchildren. He will be fondly remembered for his strong will, consistent smile and dedication to his family.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of more than 55 years, Betty; children, Mark (Jacqueline Base) Patterson and Andrea Patterson; grandchildren, Stephanie Smithers, Nathan and Lauren Patterson; and sister, Pamela Miller. He was also preceded in death by siblings, James Patterson and Patricia Brucki.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, April 26, 2022 in the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St., Maumee, OH 43537 where a scripture service and sharing of memories will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at St. Rose Catholic Church, 215 Front St., Perrysburg, OH 43551. The United States Air Force will render military honors immediately following Mass. Private burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Cleveland.
