William Alexander Cameron

William A. Bill Cameron, age 86 of Toledo, OH, formerly of Maumee, OH, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 11, 2014 at Swan Creek Care Center, Toledo. Bill was born in Lorain, OH on May 23, 1927 to Alexander and Marjorie Cameron. He was a graduate of Lorain High School and earned his Masters degree in history from Bowling Green State University. Bill was a branch manager for the Social Security Administration for 36 years until his retirement in 1987. Bill was an Army Veteran serving in the Korean War and a member of American Legion Post 320 in Maumee. He was also a member at the First Presbyterian Church in Maumee. Bill volunteered at the Ohio Office on Aging, Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity at Bowling Green State University and Swan Creek Retirement Village where he served two terms on the board and was named volunteer of the year in 2007. Bill was an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians fan. Surviving is his son, David Cameron of Marion, OH; granddaughter, Stephanie Cameron of Orlando, FL; and brother in-law, Bruce Marcia Peter of Coatesville, PA. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marilyn. A memorial service for Bill will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church of Maumee, 200 E. Broadway St., Maumee, OH. A reception will follow at 4:00 PM at Swan Creek Retirement Village, 5916 Cresthaven Lane, Toledo. Memorial contributions may be made to the Life Care Fund at Swan Creek Retirement Village.
