Theodore G. Ted Huss

Theodore Ted G. Huss, 73, of Genoa, died early Tuesday morning, June 28, 2016, at Mercy-St. Charles Hospital in Oregon after a brief illness. Ted was born March 9, 1943, in Genoa, Ohio, to Gailen M. and Esther M. (Behnke) Huss. On November 25, 1967, at St. Johns United Church of Christ in Genoa, he married Diane J. Parlette and she survives. Ted was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ, where he was currently serving as treasurer and had also served on the churchs Consistory. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam Era. Ted graduated from The Ohio State University in 1967 with a bachelors degree in Agriculture Engineering and has farmed all his life. In 1981 he started Huss Evergreen Farm, which is now Huss Nursery & Landscaping. He was a 25-year member of the Ottawa County Soil & Water Conservation District and served as president; he was currently serving as treasurer on the Erie Basin Resource Conservation and Development Council (RC&D), and had been a member of the Genoa American Legion Post #324 of Genoa. Ted enjoyed traveling, especially to Costa Rica for fishing trips, and enjoyed taking the path less traveled. His favorite enjoyment was his family-his wife, kids and grandkids. In addition to his wife, Diane, Ted is survived by his children, Matthew (Susan) Huss of Genoa, Wendy (Rick) Armon of Copley, OH and Thadd (Deanna) Huss of Genoa; his grandchildren, Ellie, Max, Clare, Knox, Annabelle and Ava; sisters, Barb (Rich) Gottschalk and Eileen (Joe) Palmerton both of Millbury, and Fred (Cindy) Huss of Genoa. His parents and brother-in-law, Jim Chambers, preceded him in death. Visitation for Ted will be 2-8 p.m., Friday, July 1, 2016, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 2, 2016, at St. Johns United Church of Christ followed by interment in Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials for Ted be directed to St. Johns UCC, 1213 Washington St., Genoa, OH 43430; Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Northwestern Ohio, 1 Stranahan Square #518, Toledo, OH 43604; or American Cancer Society, 740 Commerce Dr. Suite B, Perrysburg, OH 43551.
