Stephen A. Machcinski

Stephen A. Machcinski, age 42, passed away heroically doing the job he loved on Sunday January 26, 2014. The son of Ken and Sharon Machcinski, he was born March 17, 1971 in Toledo. He was a 1989 graduate of Whitmer High School, where during his senior year they went to regional finals in track. He attended the University of Toledo and was a graduate of Owens Community College with a degree in Fire Science. Steve was a member of the 1998 Fire Class starting on March 20th. He loved the Detroit Tigers, Cleveland Browns and the Toledo Mud Hens, rarely missing opening day. Because of Steves time with the fire department he became an avid cook and was always ready with some constructive criticism of others cooking. Steve loved his St. Patricks Day traditions while celebrating his birthday. He enjoyed fishing and the 4th of July, which he was known for his tremendous fireworks display. Steve loved his niece and nephew dearly and cherished his time with them especially on Halloween and trick or treating. He is survived by his parents, Ken and Sharon; brother Rick Terri Machcinski; sister, Beth Chris Hoye, special niece nephew, Grace and Brandon Hoye and many close friends and extended family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. There will be a Last Alarm service for Steve and his fallen comrade James Dickman on Thursday at 7:00 PM at the Seagate Center 401 Jefferson Ave. Toledo, OH 43604. His family will receive friends on Friday from 2-9 PM at the Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave west of Corey Rd where services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM.
