Sandra Kay Fleig lovingly known as “2 Cent” passed into the hands of the Lord after a nearly 5 year battle against Ovarian Cancer on Sunday July 22, 2018 in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her family. On September 5, 1959 in Lima, Ohio the world became even more bright and sunny as Sandy was born to Ralph and Barbara Hohlbein. Growing up on the homestead on Dorr St. with her 6 sisters and 4 brothers she enjoyed camping, playing outside, ice skating, polka dances, gardening, canning, swimming in the pond, and hanging out with closest childhood friends. Sandy always excelled in school where she attended Penta Co. Vocational School for Cosmetology where she was chosen to be the first student to go to state for competition. It was there, where in 1975, she met her soul mate Ronald James Fleig. On March 17, 1979 the two were married and they forged a forever bond which lasted over 39 years. They moved to California where they lived for 1.5 years before returning home where Sandy began her nearly 40 year career as a hair stylist starting at Lion Store ending at Definitions of Design. The couple raised two beautiful and strong daughters Melissa and Veronica whom will carry out their mother’s legacy. Being a hair stylist didn’t mean just doing hair. She became her client’s therapists, friends, and sounding board. Sandy would always send clients out the door looking and feeling their best. She became a second Mother to others and had a million dollar smile. She has done countless first hair cuts, first communions, brides on their wedding days, and styles for high school dances. She was simply a gem. Sandy enjoyed boating with family and friends, the sun, her profession, but most of all making memories with her grandchildren which were her pride and joy. Those who loved her describe her as the most positive, upbeat, encouraging, hysterical, and fun-loving woman whom was everyone’s biggest supporter. She was a jokester, a world class sister, the best cookie baker, and the strongest woman others have ever known. She fought her cancer battle with grace and dignity. Left to cherish Sandy’s memory is her loving husband, Ronald James Fleig; daughters, Melissa (Doug) Holland and Veronica (John) Fleig-Kandik; grandchildren, Payton, Isabelle, Ryder, and Breana; parents, Ralph and Barbara Hohlbein; brothers, Ken (Dar), Charles, Duane, Andrew (Kim); sisters, Karen (Tim), Shirley (Greg), Joyce (Brad), Therese, Elaine (Scott), Beverly; father in law, Charles (Barbara) Fleig; brothers in law, Edward (Beth), Ken (Was), Chuck (Laura), several nieces and nephews, many great nieces and great nephews, her second family at Definitions of Design, and all of her devoted clients.
