Robert L. Wollenschlager, best known as “Dr. Bob”, 84, of Perrysburg, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, July 2, 2015. Bob was born in Toledo, Ohio on April 30, 1931. As a young boy, he faithfully delivered newspapers while riding his bicycle. As a teenager, he began work at Gempel Stone Hardware, where he stocked shelves and delivered orders. He graduated from Macomber High School in Toledo, and furthered his education at Palmer College of Chiropractic where he received his doctorate degree. On August 23, 1952, Bob married the love of his life, Donna Panning of Napoleon, Ohio. Shortly after, he joined the Army Reserve and worked as an X-Ray Technician while being stationed at Letterman Army Hospital in San Francisco, CA where he and Donna resided for three years. Dr. Bob had his own chiropractic practice in Toledo for many years and with his wife, raised three daughters. His greatest joy was helping people and he was very dedicated to his patients. He also enjoyed the variety of the people he met while working at the Kerr House in Grand Rapids, Ohio, one day a week, where he later volunteered his time. Dr. Bob enjoyed hunting in his younger years, teaching his grandsons how to fish and embraced family gatherings. He will forever be remembered for his love of chatting with anybody and everybody. Dr. Bob and his family attended St. Lucas Lutheran Church in Toledo for many years before joining St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Maumee. Dr. Bob is survived by his loving family; wife, Donna (Panning) Wollenschlager; daughters, Janet (David) Forney, Sandy (Steve) Hale, Lori (Mark) Ryerson; grandchildren: Becky Davis , Brian Forney, Brandon (Jessica) Hale, Nikki Hale, Lindsay (Steven) Garrow, Justin Ryerson; great grandchildren, Lily and Blake; sister, Ruthann Couterier; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Howard. Friends will be received Saturday July, 18 2015 starting at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 112 E. Wayne Street, Maumee, Ohio, where a memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dr. Bob’s name can be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church for the Capital Improvement Fund.
