Paul Joseph Rose, Jr.

July 11, 1923 — May 10, 2014

Paul Joseph Rose, Jr., 90, died peacefully surrounded by his family on May 10, 2014. He was born on July 11, 1923, to Paul and Colette (Rix) Rose of Madison, Wisconsin. The third of seven children, he attended the University of Wisconsin, graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served in the United States Army Air Corps as a cryptographer during World War II. After his discharge, he returned to the University of Wisconsin to earn a Law degree. On June 24, 1950, he married Grace Patricia Brown of Tomah, Wisconsin. Together, they raised nine children. Paul had a long career as a patent attorney, most recently at Owens Corning Fiberglass. Following Grace’s death after 48 years of marriage, Paul was wed to Margaret Susan “Susie” Waible of Perrysburg, Ohio, on August 6, 1999. Known for his dry sense of humor, Paul was a lifelong fan of the Wisconsin Badgers, enjoyed crossword puzzles, and bridge. Paul was an active member of Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society for many years. He loved animals and children, and they loved him. More than anything else, he loved having all of his children and grandchildren together for special occasions. Paul was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Susie; his children Anne, Emily, Jeanne, John, Richard, Susan, Therese, Marie, Thomas; their families including 13 grandchildren; his brother Phillip, and his sister Anita.
