Marcella B. Peer Filer, 86, of Genoa died in the Genoa Retirement Village Monday, November 2, 2009. She was born February 3, 1923, in Curtice, Ohio, to Frederick and Minnie Haack Schlievert. She married Richard Peer November 28, 1942, and he preceded her in death September 10, 1983. Her second marriage was to Charles E. Filer on February 16, 1989, and he preceded her in death in April 2007. Marcella was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Martin, Ohio, and was a member of the churchs Altar Society. She was also a member of the American Legion Post #324 Auxiliary of Genoa and the Perrysburg Senior Bowling League. She loved to bake and China paint. Marcella retired from Sears in 1984, working at the Woodville Mall for many years. Her survivors include her son, Daniel Elaine Perryman Peer of Norwalk, daughters, Regina Peer of Genoa and Gretchen Drummond of Oregon, seven grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. Also surviving are her three stepsons, Crist, Nicholas and Daniel Filer and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Richard and Charles, sisters, Isabelle Hartman and Althea Wilhelm, and brothers, Leonard and Lloyd Schlievert. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Thursday, November 5, 2009, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Genoa. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 6, 2009, in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Martin Bono, with one hour of visitation prior to the Mass. Interment will follow in Allen Township Cemetery, Williston. The family has requested memorials for Marcella to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 1105 Elliston Rd., Martin, OH 43445; American Legion Post #324 Auxiliary, P.O. Box 130, Genoa, OH 43430; or the Luther Home of Mercy, P.O. Box 187, Williston, OH 43468.
