Mabel Jarrell Hoge

Mabel Jarrell Hoge, 102, passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve, at Sunset House, surrounded by her family. Mabel spent her early years in Swiss, West Virginia, until moving to Huntington, West Virginia as a young girl, after she lost both of her parents. After graduating from high school, she worked as an administrator in a school office. She moved to Toledo in the 1940s, with her husband, Robert Henderson Hoge, and daughter, Lou Anne Hoge. She was a true southern lady who enjoyed cooking, gardening, quilting, needlepoint, bridge, travelling, and spending time with her family and friends. She was involved with the ladies clubs at both the Toledo Museum of Art and Owens-Illinois. She is survived by her granddaughter, Jennifer Mills Douglas Kohler, M.D.; great-grandchildren, Michael and Elizabeth Kohler, all of Shaker Heights, OH; nieces, nephews and longtime friend, Gerald Mills. Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Jarrell, husband, Robert Henderson Hoge, daughter, Lou Anne Mills, grandson, Justin Mills, sister, Nancy Peg Carson and half-brother, Richard Minner. Friends are invited to visit from 4-6:30 PM Thursday, in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 West Sylvania Avenue west of Corey, where funeral services will follow at 6:30 PM.
