Karen L. Mcgee

October 22, 1943 — July 30, 2025

Karen Lee (St. Julian) McGee, 81, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 22, 1943 to Frank “Charles” and Helene (Steinke) St. Julian; she is preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert McGee.

From a young age, Karen was determined to follow her passions. As a member of the Marilynettes baton twirling team, she had the opportunity at age 13 to perform in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City—a memory that she treasured throughout her life. She also enjoyed being a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she joined the choir and became enveloped in a strong community of faith.

Karen was known for her comforting presence and open heart. She had a gift for listening, and many found solace in her gentle wisdom. Her chicken paprikash was a family favorite, and her cooking brought people together in the best way. Karen also had a love for collecting angels and trains as they reminded her of beauty and strength, qualities with which she will always be remembered.

Karen’s memory will live on through her children, David (Wendy) McGee and Jacquelyn (Michael) Senyczko, as well as her two grandchildren, Mercedes McGee and Makayla (Mitchell) Stewart. She also leaves behind three great-grandchildren: Rosalie, Declan, and Landon Stewart. Karen was preceded in death by her brother, Richard St. Julian, and she is survived by her sister, Brenda (Michael) Kusner along with her sister-in-law, Cora “Tootie” St. Julian. Beyond those who are mentioned, Karen’s legacy will be carried forward by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Sujkowski-Walker Funeral Home, 830 Lime City Road, Rossford, Ohio. The funeral service will be held the following day, Monday, August 4, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 106 W. Plumer Street, Toledo, Ohio 43605 with the burial to follow at Lake Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Karen lived by several words of inspiration, and this is one that was close to her heart:

“As welcome as sunshine in every place, is the beaming approach of a friendly face.”
