Howard “Smitty”” Chief” “Brother Howard” Smith, age 86, of Port Clinton, Ohio passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2022. He was born on August 14, 1936, to Carl and Alice (Perry) Smith in Kingsport, Tennessee. Howard married Nancy McGlothlin on April 13, 1963. He was employed by Celotex Corporation for 47 years, until their closure in 2001.
Howard loved all Cleveland Teams, being a Prayer Warrior, playing the harmonica, and listening to bluegrass, especially Gypsum Crossing Bluegrass, playing horseshoes and cornhole, and most of all being a grandpa. He as a member of the Boilermakers Union Local D206, the Church of God in Port Clinton, Brush Arbor Church in Gypsum, Ohio, and Church of God of Prophecy.
Howard is survived by his daughters, Lisa (David) White and Rhonda (Thomas) Brennan; son, Timothy (Cathy) Smith; grandchildren, Jessica (Jason White), Eric (Alyssa) Kouts, Curtis (Ana) Kouts, Brandon (Amanda) Kouts, Tara (Donald) Schaldach, Heidi White (Logan Giamatti), Jade, Justin, Jared, and Jenna Brennan, Zachary Smith (Ashley Kimmet); Great-grandchildren, Autumn, Carson, Lydia, Harper, Grayson, Evie, Kai, Liam, Ella, Camryn; brother, Herbert Smith. In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy; along with 10 siblings.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at the Gerner-Wolf Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington Street, Port Clinton, Ohio 43452. The funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 18, 2022 in the funeral home. Interment will be in LaCarpe Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the donor’s choice.
