Federico Tijerina

Federico Tijerina, 83, of Pickerington, Ohio and formerly of Genoa, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2022, at Tuscany Gardens, Pataskala, Ohio. He was born in Cameron County, Texas, on July 23, 1938, the son of Federico and Martina (Garza) Tijerina. He married Connie E. (Ruiz) in Fremont, Ohio on June 11, 1969, and she preceded him in death on August 20, 1997.

Fred was a truck driver during the week, but his real passion was being a Tejano music promoter with wife, Connie. Fred was a member of the band, Los Caminantes, in which he sang and played the accordion. He helped in raising his grandson, Tony, after his son was taken suddenly. Fred Loved cooking for his family, loved looking at pictures of his grandkids and great grandkids. He had a great sense of humor which brought much joy and laughter to his son Fred and wife Linda, with whom he had been living for the last 2 1/2 years of his life. Fred loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren very much and took great joy in the times they shared. He was the oldest of thirteen children and was very well respected by all of them.

Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Tijerina, daughters, MaryJane Tijerina and Anna Flores, son, Tony Tijerina, granddaughter, Anna Tijerina, and his parents, Federico, and Martina Tijerina. He is survived by his children, Fred (Linda) Tijerina, Felix (Denise) Tijerina, Marylou Zamora, Fred Tijerina, Dorothy Leon, Dinah Flores, Danny Tijerina, Rosendo Flores, and many grand and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM, Thursday, February 17, 2022, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, Ohio. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 AM, Friday, February 18, 2022, in the funeral home with interment to follow in the Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa.
