Edward Koepfler, 89, of Toledo passed away peacefully on April 7th at St. Clare Commons of Perrysburg. Born in Toledo on November 22, 1927 to Edward and Mary Koepfler. He was a loving husband of 68 years to Catherine and raised five loving boys. Edward was a proud grandfather of thirteen and great-grandfather of twenty-two. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Ed worked at Allied Chemical Co., which later became Plascon Corp for 37 years until it closed. Then he opened a Heating and Air company with his brothers-in-law and became a realtor. Ed belonged to the Northern Light Lodge #40 where he was 32nd degree mason. and was active in the Shriners; the clowns; a member and past monarch of the O Ton Ta La Grotto. He was also a member of the GBU and volunteered for many years selling popcorn at the German American Festival. In his free time, he enjoyed playing cards and square dancing at the Maumee Senior Center. During the past 35 years he relished spending time at their cottage, on Lake Columbia, with his big family. Our fondest memory of him was watching him roll around on the ground during a “family friendly” game of volleyball. Ed is survived by his sister Miriam Keating: his sons Edward Koepfler, Thomas (Nancy) Koepfler, Alex (Sandy) Koepfler, James (Debbie) Koepfler and Greg Koepfler: grandchildren Tom (Shannon) Koepfler, Michelle (Craig) Miller, Dawn (Ryan) Sekinger, Jimmy (Jessica) Koepfler, Mike (Erika) Koepfler, Chad Koepfler, Dr. Jeff (Tammy) Koepfler, Melissa Koepfler (Darrus), Amy (Tom) Bird, Stephanie Koepfler, Benn Koepfler, and Troy and Cody Maples; great-grandchildren Mackenize, Tyler, Madasyn, Caleb, Bella, Kaiden, Nolan, Drake, Mallory, Carter, Mason, Lily, Graham, Gracie, Morgan, Evan, Alexander, Logan, Zoe, Adalynn and Lyndsey; plus many nieces, nephews and special friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Catherine, his mother, his father and brother Donald (Betty) Koepfler, Warren Koepfler (great grandchild), brother-in-laws Dick Baron, Frank Keating and Greg’s fiancée, Brenda Mowka. His family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at St. Clare Commons and Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Family and Friends will be received from 3-8 pm on Monday, April 10, 2017 at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral, 501 Conant St., Maumee, OH. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home Pastor Beth Giller officiating. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
