Dr. Robert J. Blair

Dr. Robert J. Blair passed away peacefully with his family by his side on November 13, 2021. He was born in Youngstown, Ohio on August 9, 1941, to James and Emma Blair. A 1959 Graduate of South High School in Youngstown, Ohio, Dr. Blair went on to The Ohio State University receiving his undergraduate degree in 1963. After a year of graduate study in the Biochemistry program at The Ohio State University, he entered medical school at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating in 1968. Following an internship at Doctor’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, he completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical College of Ohio, now known as the University of Toledo College of Medicine. After 32 years in private practice in Maumee, Ohio, he accepted a teaching position at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in the Department of Obstetrics, retiring in 2007. During his medical practice, Dr. Blair held several positions including Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Member of the Ohio State Medical Association as well as the American Osteopathic Association, Ohio Osteopathic Association, and the Academy of Medicine of Toledo and Lucas County. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 33 years, Jill (Siegel); brother, Dr. Ralph Blair; sister-in-law, Mary Jane (Charles) Berkau; his children, Derek (Jennifer) Blair, Jeremy Blair, Jon (Amy) Blair, JoEllen (Craig) Harris, and Justin Campbell; grandchildren, Megan and Alex Blair, Charlie and Emma Blair, Christopher (Emily) Harris, Madelyn Harris and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Marcia Lucarell, and brother-in-law, John Siegel. Family and friends will be welcomed for visitation Monday, November 22, 2021, from 4-8PM at Walker Funeral Home (5155 W. Sylvania Ave) where services will be held on Tuesday, November 23, at 11AM. Interment to follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in Dr. Robert Blair’s name to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
