Donald L. Phillips age 84 of Toledo passed away suddenly on Saturday December 3, 2011 while campaigning for his sons judicial race. Don was born in Point Marion, PA on February 28, 1927 to Lester and Bertie Campbell Phillips. He was employed at the former Woolson Spice and later at Owens Corning in Toledo as Chief Internal Auditor. Don then moved to Newark, OH and worked as a purchasing agent for Owens Corning until his retirement. After retiring, Don and his wife moved to New Bern, NC where he was elected county commissioner for 2 terms and later ran for state senator. He was involved in local politics in Toledo working on campaigns for Judge Christiansen and his son Kenneth. He was an active member and promoter of the republican party. Don also served on the board at the YMCA. He was very devoted to his family. Don is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Barbara; daughter, Rebecca L.; sons, Michael T. Susan, Kenneth W. Tammy esq, and Thomas P.; 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; brother, Carl Dotty and many special friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert L.; granddaughter, Nicole and a brother, Warren Phillips. Friends and family may visit at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home 501 Conant St. Maumee, on Tuesday December 6, 2011 from 2-8 pm. A memorial Mass will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Harbor House 3322 Cherry St. Toledo, OH 43608 or Toledo R House 2428 W.
