Daniel Anthony Dudek

November 25, 1930 — June 9, 2023

Daniel Dudek (Uncle Danny) “fell asleep and never woke up” on Friday, June 9, 2023 at the young age of 92. He was born on November 25, 1930 and lived in the same house in Rossford his entire life. He never married and his devotion to his mother and father was very strong.

Uncle Danny went to Rossford H.S., graduating in 1948. He was drafted into the Army as part of the Sunshine Division, and he saw combat in Korea. He worked as Produce Manager for 30 years at the Kroger on Broadway in Toledo, retiring at age 56. There never was a gentler, kind, loyal, unassuming man. Conservative in his ways, he cared little for material luxuries, except for his new red Pontiac automobile every two years.

Uncle Danny's joy came from road trips often with his parents, devotion to his Catholic faith as a member of All Saints Church where he served as an usher, special relationships with his nieces and nephews, bowling (he was proud of his 698 Series), and gardening. Later in life, he could be found walking inside Woodville Mall and then Meijer with his friend, Bob Palm. Other lifelong friends are Joe, Bob, and David. He was proud of his Polish heritage and continued many Polish traditions.

As Uncle Danny suddenly declined (his body but not his mind) he needed residence in hospital and rehabilitation facilities. His caregivers loved him. He greeted everyone with a smile and a pleasantry. Uncle Danny was undemanding to a fault. Everyone said he was a sweetheart, and he was. He never wanted to bother anyone and was a “breath of fresh air”. Uncle Danny was thankful for anything anyone would do for him. Special thank you to Judy Rutter and Lori Wozniak for their care in his last years.

Daniel Dudek was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Doris Dudek (immigrants from Poland); sisters, Genevieve (McLukie), Lottie (Wozniak), and Eileen (Kalisik); brother, Robert Dudek; nephews, Dan Wozniak, David Wozniak, Tim McLuckie, and George Kalisik. Uncle Danny is Survived by Nieces and Nephews, James and Robert McLuckie, Darlene Young, Phillip Dudek, Jill Moriuchi, Anne Bartles, John, Gerald and Jim Kalisik, Jackie Garbor, Judy Rutter, along with many great nieces and nephews.
