Colleen Mae Pickering, age 94, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 18, 2021. The daughter of Bernard and Edna Black, she was born April 21, 1926 in Toledo (which also happens to be Queen Elizabeth’s birthday). She was very active with the Manor House, coordinating the tour guides and creating the mantle pieces and the yule log displays. Colleen was a member of the Sylvania Garden Club, Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, Dendarah Court and the P’Takist, a creative and crafty unit of the Dendarah Court, as well as a charter member of the Toledo Women’s Club. She was an outstanding baker and talented seamstress, making many wedding dresses and sharing her craft with the Toledo Opera making costumes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard “Pink”; longtime companion, Byron Kusian; brothers, Bernard, Richard, Robert and grandson, Jeffrey. She is survived by her children, Rodney (Jinsai) Pickering, Leslie Wolever, H.Tod (Diane) Pickering; grandchildren, Julie, Jennifer, Wendy, Kevin, Mackenzie, Andrew and 6 great grandchildren. Visitation and services will be private. Walker Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements 419-841-2422. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
