Carolyn Koelsch, 80, of Toledo, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born in Toledo to Hiram and Delores (Stambaugh) Hurt on August 7, 1943. Carolyn was a 1961 graduate of Whitney High School and married her longtime sweetheart, Nicholas Koelsch, in 1963. They bought their beloved home in 1966 and Carolyn has been creating beautiful family memories ever since. She had a heart of gold and was the nurturing mother everyone would feel comfortable with. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings and being a voice of guidance when needed. She loved shopping, traveling to the Smokey Mountains with Nick, and tending to her beautiful flower gardens. Carolyn and her husband looked forward to their monthly lunch with the Local #33 Retirees group and listening to Elvis, she even belonged to the local Elvis Sweet, Sweet Sprit Fan Club.
Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of over 60 years, Nicholas; sons, Nick (Lisa) Koelsch, Keith (Debra) Koelsch; grandchildren, Ryan (Kayla) Tropp, Chris Detrick, Tyler Koelsch, Nicholas Koelsch, Jr., Kaleb Koelsch, Kiersten (Terrak) Leblanc; sister, Barbara Ann Buck; sister-in-law, Clarita Hurt; and many cherished friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Barry Hurt; parents, Hiram and Delores Hurt; and beloved dog, Ginger.
Friends are invited to gather on Monday, April 22, 2024, from 4-8 p.m. at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, OH. Burial will take place privately at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Assumption, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Carolyn’s name may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
