Betty Joanne Killen

Betty “Joanne” Killen, 81, of Walbridge, Ohio, died unexpectedly in Cumberland, Maryland on April 20, 2017 while on vacation with her sisters. Joanne was born September 3, 1935 to Duluth G. and Ida G. (Maxey) Cunningham in Coal City, West Virginia. She was married to the love of her life, Woodrow Killen on October 23, 1951. Before enjoying retirement, Joanne was a manager at Sears Roebuck. Joanne was the last surviving charter member of the East Toledo Baptist Church. She was also an avid crafter. Left to cherish her memory are Joanne’s children Sharon Gelacek, Jean (Jim) Bihn, Randy Killen; grandchildren Kari and Kelly Gelacek, Randy Killen, Julie and Bill Bihn, Cassie and Tyler Killen; many loving great grandchildren; sisters Mae Stewart, Reva Kriley; and her beloved best friend Mary Jane Dick. Joanne is preceded in death by her loving husband Woodrow Killen; son Roger Killen; and sister Fern Cunningham. Friends and family will be received at Hoeflinger-Bolander Funeral Home, 3500 Navarre Avenue Oregon, Ohio 43616 (419-691-6768) Tuesday April 25, 2017 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Services will be held at East Toledo Baptist Church 811 East Broadway Street Toledo, Ohio 43605, Wednesday April 26, 2017 11:00 am with burial to follow at Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Joanne’s name may be made to the East Toledo Baptist Church.
